INTRODUCTION AND HISTORY

Morning Glow Academy was started in the year 2007. It is a Christian based institution under the Free Pentecostal Church in Kilifi County on the Kenyan Coast. It is located along old ferry road near Kilifi plantation farm shop (Maziwa). The school started with three classrooms which were built by friends from Sweden (The Mases Gardens Forskola). The first enrolment had eight pupils in the kindergarten one class.

Vision and Mission Statements

  • Vision: To be the best Christian based institution in coast region which will bring up godly and dynamic leaders.
  • Mission: Nurturing children who will bring a change in the society.
  • Motto: Knowledge is Life (Hosea 4:6)

Morning Glow Academy has both the primary and the pre-primary sections with an enrollment of one hundred and eighty pupils (180)

School’s Performance

Academic: In the year 2017, the school had the first class of 17 candidates sitting for the Kenya national exams (KCPE) with the first one scoring 421 marks out of a possible 500 marks and a class mean score of 312 Marks. All the 17 joined secondary schools.

Extra curricula activities

The school is involved in extra curricula activities including;

  • Football – Friendly matches
  • Music & drama – First position in county festivals 2018
  • Scouting -

Staffing

  • Fourteen trained teachers: 3 in the pre-primary section and eleven in the primary
  • Five Support staff: two cooks, one care taker and a watchman

FUTURE PLANS

In view of improving the school we hope to in the;

Short term:

  • build a library for pupils to access wide range of books and other educational resources
  • a spacious teacher’s staff room: This is to cater for the growing number of pupils/teachers and streams
  • a school van for transport to serve the extent of our catchment area.

Long term:

  • To have a larger plot to create space for a playground. Currently there is very limited space for a playground for the children.
  • To build boarding school facilities when we have purchased the plot.
